OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman has rejoined the AI startup three months after stepping back from his role as president, he announced on X on Tuesday (Nov 12).
An OpenAI representative confirmed his return.
According to Bloomberg News, Brockman has been collaborating with CEO Sam Altman to shape a new role focused on tackling major technical challenges.
In his post on X, Brockman shared, "Longest vacation of my life complete. Back to building @OpenAI."
Brockman’s return follows a wave of exits from the Microsoft-backed company, including former Chief Technology Officer Mira Murati, co-founder John Schulman, and co-founder Ilya Sutskever. Sutskever and Murati have since launched their own AI startups.
Altman, too, resumed his position as OpenAI’s CEO in November 2023 after briefly stepping down due to an unexplained board decision to remove him.
