Subhash Ghai, the producer behind the iconic film Aitraaz, has officially announced the sequel, Aitraaz 2, to mark the 20th anniversary of the original film. The filmmaker shared his excitement on social media, revealing that the sequel is already in development with a "finest script" after three years of effort.
The 2004 romantic thriller, which featured Priyanka Chopra, Akshay Kumar, and Kareena Kapoor, received critical acclaim for its bold and controversial theme. Ghai took to Instagram to praise Chopra’s performance, particularly her portrayal of a powerful, ambitious woman—a role that was groundbreaking at the time.
Originally released in 2004, Aitraaz was a bold romantic thriller directed by Abbas-Mustan, which explored a sexual harassment case between a man and his female superior. Loosely inspired by the Hollywood film Disclosure, it became a commercial hit due to its controversial theme and powerful performances. Subhash Ghai, renowned for his work in Indian cinema, has directed classics like Karz and Pardes. His production company Mukta Arts, founded in 1982, is also behind the sequel Aitraaz 2, which is currently in development.
